Special disability leave shall not be granted to an officer who is disabled by injury in consequence of his official position unless the disability manifested itself within :

3 months after the occurrence to which it is attributed

4 months after the occurrence to which it is attributed

6 months after the occurrence to which it is attributed

9 months after the occurrence to which it is attributed
