മീസ് റാക്കൂൺ, ഓസ്റ്റിൻ്റെ ഇടതുകൈ പിടിച്ച് അവൻൻ്റെ ചെറുവിര ലുകൾ ഫാൻപോലെ വിടർത്തി മുന്നോട്ട് കുനിഞ്ഞ്, അവ കൈപ്പത്തിയുടെ നടുവിൽ ചുംബിച്ചു. അമ്മയുടെ ചുംബനം താന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്ന് ഹൃദയത്തിലേക്ക് പാഞ്ഞുകയറുന്നതു പോലെ ചെസ്റ്ററിന് തോന്നി. ഒരു പ്രത്യേകതരം ഊഷ്മളത അവൻ കറുത്ത മൃദുലമായ മുഖാവര ണത്തെ ഹർഷപുളകിത മാക്കി.മിസ് റക്കൂൺ പുഞ്ചിരിച്ചു. അവൻ ചെസ്റ്ററോട് പറഞ്ഞു.നിനക്ക് ഏകാന്തത അനുഭവ പ്പെടുമ്പോഴും വീട്ടിൽ നിന്നു അല്പം സ്നേഹം ആവശ്യം ഉള്ളപ്പോഴും, നിന്റെ കവിളിൽ കൈ അമർത്തി അമ്മ നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് ചിന്തിക്കുക. ആ ചുംബനം നിന്റെ മുഖത്തേക്ക് കുത്തിക്കു കയും ഊഷ് മളമായ ചിന്തകൾ നിന്നിൽ നിറ ക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും. അവൾ ചെസ്റ്ററിന്റെ കൈ പിടിച്ച് ശ്രദ്ധ പൂർവ്വം ചുംബനത്തെ വിരലുകൾ കൊണ്ട് പൊതിഞ്ഞു.
